Dale is an avid cyclist, so the sisters will be riding on The Longest Day® to celebrate and honor him and to raise funds to “take down” the disease. Help us Turn Iowa Purple for Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month is a chance for the Alzheimer’s Association to hold a global conversation about the brain, Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. The more people know about Alzheimer’s, the more action we inspire. On June 2, help us Turn Iowa Purple by sharing why you go purple on Instagram or Twitter using the hashtags #EndAlzheimers and tag @ALZIowa or by changing your Facebook profile picture to raise awareness. You can help plant seeds of hope in the fight against Alzheimer’s Volunteers will hit the streets nationwide on Friday, June 2, and Saturday, June 3, collecting donations to help fight Alzheimer’s disease during Bankers Life Forget Me Not Days, now in its 15th year. In exchange for a contribution, donors receive a packet of Forget Me Not flower seeds to plant in honor of a loved one and the more than 5 million people living with Alzheimer’s. Bankers Life provides life and health insurance to those who are in or near retirement. Since 2003, Bankers Life has supported the Alzheimer’s Association with more than $4.5 million for its care, support and research efforts. Online Tools Alzheimer's Navigator Caregiver Stress Check ALZConnected Your Local Community Greater Iowa Chapter     Educational workshops taking place in Western Iowa Caregivers, community members, and family members who have loved ones with Alzheimer's disease or other dementia are invited to attend our chapter workshops. All workshops are an educational opportunity and provide the latest knowledge, treatment options, and research on a variety of topics related to dementia. Summer workshops are taking place in Western Iowa in: Council Bluffs (6/6) and Sioux City (6/22). Alzheimer's may gradually diminish a person's ability to communicate Communication with a person living with Alzheimer's requires patience, understanding and good listening skills.
