Gymnast Laurie Hernandez featured in new issue of ALZ magazine
While training for the 2016 Summer Olympics, where she won gold and silver medals, gymnast Laurie Hernandez learned her late grandmother, “Yeya,” was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. In the new issue of ALZ magazine, Hernandez talks about how Yeya’s fighting spirit lives on through her.

Webinar with leading dementia care educator, Teepa Snow, on October 9
Teepa Snow is a leading dementia care educator with over 35 years of experience in geriatrics. On Friday, October 9 from 8:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., she will lead an interactive webinar providing strategies to improve interactions, reduce conflict and work together with individuals living with dementia. This event is available to nurses, social workers, mental health professionals, family caregivers and family members.

Support Group Facilitator Training on September 30
Support group facilitators will have the opportunity to join a quarterly training for continuing education. The training will be held virtually on Zoom and will go over troubleshooting volunteer challenges, share volunteer success stories, review compliance and introduce new virtual volunteer positions. If you’re a support group facilitator, RSVP to Sherita Jenkins at snjenkins@alz.org by 9.25 or contact her if you’re interested in becoming a volunteer.
