March 30, 2022   24/7 Helpline: 800.272.3900 Excessive napping may increase Alzheimer’s risk Older adults who napped at least once a day or more than an hour a day were 40% more likely to develop Alzheimer's than those who didn’t, according to a study published in Alzheimer’s & Dementia®: The Journal of the Alzheimer’s Association. Researchers also found that seniors tended to nap longer and more frequently as they age, and Alzheimer’s accelerated this change by more than doubling nap duration and frequency.
