Dear Tushar,
The rising cost of food is affecting all of us, particularly our grocery bills, which grow each week. We have had to make adjustments to our budgets, and sacrifice some of the things we enjoy, just to make ends meet. Together, families are making the tough decisions and prioritizing what comes first when spending.
For countless families we serve, the hard reality is they simply don't make enough money to feed their families through the month, and the current economic crisis has only made things worse.
This is Rianna's third time visiting the food pantry. She's a single working mom of two. "I have been coming here for the past three months. Groceries are so expensive now and I have two kids at home. I don't have enough to buy everything that they need and pay for rent. Coming here helps me a lot."
Families like Rianna's can come to our food pantry once a month and receive enough healthy food to fill the enormous gaps that lower wages and the current economic crisis are creating. Never going to a food pantry before, many struggle with taking that first step through our doors because it's never easy to ask for help.
