Diabetes drug may help protect the aging brain
A new study suggests that people with type 2 diabetes taking a common drug called metformin appear to have significantly slower decline in thinking and memory as they age. While additional research is necessary, the study’s results provide hope for a means of reducing dementia risk in people with type 2 diabetes. Scientists are planning a three-year study in people without diabetes.
