Dear Tushar,
Many of us make resolutions to begin the new year.

Advancing the fight against Alzheimer's disease is a resolution you can make, and a promise you can keep, today. Please support our 2022 Annual Fund Drive now to accelerate critical research and help provide vital care and support to families impacted by Alzheimer's, in your community and mine.

Resolutions often mean setting an intention — to exercise more, eat healthier or get more sleep. You should know that researchers around the globe are exploring how those sorts of lifestyle modifications may reduce the risk of Alzheimer's.

The Alzheimer's Association U.S. Study to Protect Brain Health Through Lifestyle Intervention to Reduce Risk — known as U.S. POINTER study — is a two-year clinical trial to evaluate whether lifestyle interventions that simultaneously target multiple risk factors can protect cognitive function in older adults (age 60-79) at increased risk for cognitive decline. U.S. POINTER is the first such study to be conducted in a large group of Americans.

Yet we know that Alzheimer's disease can affect any of us, as everyone is at risk. And it can affect the people we care about — our family, our friends and our neighbors. There are also more than 11 million caregivers in America providing compassionate unpaid care.

It's crucial that we make 2022 a year of impact by continuing to accelerate research and providing care and support so no one has to face Alzheimer's alone. I'll be counting on community members, like you, to take the next step and provide your support this year.

In recognition of that support, I'm thrilled today to share your 2022 Supporter Card, which was chosen by hundreds of supporters who voted for their favorite design. I hope it will inspire you to support our 2022 Annual Fund Drive.

We need to keep driving research forward — and your support of our Annual Fund ensures that in addition to providing care and support, we can advance scientific investigations into:
  • What causes Alzheimer's and who is most likely to develop it.
  • Risk-reduction and prevention strategies including behavior changes and new drugs.
  • Ways to detect and diagnose Alzheimer's early and accurately.
  • New treatments that can delay, slow or stop the onset and progression of dementia.
  • How to improve care and support for all affected.

Dear Tushar,
I'd like to share some important information with you today about Alzheimer's and the impact it has on so many people, not only on those living with this devastating disease, but also on their caregivers and families.

This is information everyone should know — and the facts become more and more important to us each year because the older we are, the greater our risk of Alzheimer's becomes.

But before I get to those numbers, I have one fact to share with you first: You're the reason progress is possible. It's your support of our Annual Fund Drive that will help provide care and support and accelerate the research that may one day end Alzheimer's disease.

I'm counting on community members, like you, to recognize the urgent need for financial support this year. Please give to our 2022 Annual Fund Drive now to advance critical research and help provide vital care and support to families affected by Alzheimer's.

DONATE NOW. >

Here's some important information you should know about Alzheimer's disease:
  • By 2050, the number of people in the United States age 65 and older living with Alzheimer's dementia is projected to reach nearly 13 million.
  • 1 in 3 seniors dies with Alzheimer's or another dementia.
  • Family members and friends provided nearly $257 billion in unpaid care to people living with Alzheimer's and other dementias in 2020.
  • Last year, the total national cost of caring for people living with Alzheimer's or another dementia was expected to reach $355 billion — with immeasurable emotional costs experienced by families across this country.
  • Older Black Americans are about twice as likely to develop Alzheimer's or another dementia as older White Americans, and older Hispanic Americans are about one-and one-half times as likely to live with Alzheimer's or another dementia as older White Americans.

Support our 2022 Annual Fund Drive now. >

The fact is, we're all at risk. And the more you know about the emotional, physical and financial toll this takes on so many, the more you understand how extremely urgent it is to do all we can THIS YEAR — to advance the fight against Alzheimer's and achieve our vision of a world without Alzheimer's and all other dementia.

Your Annual Fund Drive contribution today will go right to work, advancing our mission to lead the way to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia — by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.

Our Annual Fund Drive is one of the most important times to show your commitment to this fight. Please make your Annual Fund Drive gift now. Thank you.
