June is Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month, and the Alzheimer's Association needs your help to uncover the truth about Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. Everyone who has a brain is at risk to develop Alzheimer's, a fatal disease that's often misunderstood. During June, you can help raise awareness by going purple and taking action.

Virtual dementia tours in Des Moines for The Longest Day®
Have you planned your Longest Day activity yet? Do what you love in honor of a loved one and sign up today - alz.org/thelongestday. Team Glen Oaks from the Des Moines area is hosting a virtual dementia tour open to the public on June 20 from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. Caring for folks with dementia is there passion. Take the tour and experience what it may be like to have dementia. Free will donations will be accepted.

Sign up now to honor people facing Alzheimer's on The Longest Day
The Longest Day®, taking place on June 20, is a sunrise-to-sunset team fundraising event to honor those with Alzheimer's disease and their caregivers. Register by tomorrow, June 2, to receive your Welcome Kit, which includes materials to help you raise funds as well as a special T-shirt to show the world you're part of The Longest Day.

Social engagement is critical to staying active in you or your loved one's journey with Alzheimer’s or another dementia
Dresses, flowers, food and dancing all at Lakeside Casino’s “senior” prom, Saturday, June 11 starting at 11 a.m. It’s an opportunity for seniors to socialize, have fun, and engage with their community. Good Neighbor Pharmacy pledges support to help fight Alzheimer's disease
Good Neighbor Pharmacy locations across the country will be raising awareness for the 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer's Disease and funds for care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association in June. During Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month, Good Neighbor Pharmacy customers who donate a minimum of $1 will receive a The Longest Day pin-up to honor someone facing Alzheimer's. As an official sponsor of The Longest Day, Good Neighbor Pharmacy is committed to raising a minimum of $100,000 for the fight to end the disease.

Walk to End Alzheimer's® National Walk Team, LCS, supports Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month
LCS will host an educational series at their headquarters in Des Moines, open to the public beginning June 14. Topics include: My Life: The New Normal, 10 Ways to Love Your Brain, The Basics, and Know the 10 Signs. Learning the truth about Alzheimer’s and staying educated is key to understanding the disease.
