What the numbers tell us

Dear Tushar,
Each year, the Alzheimer's Association publishes our Alzheimer's Disease Facts and Figures report to help make every American aware of the growing threat of the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States.

Today, on the first day of Giving Week, I want to highlight some of the numbers for you:
  • More than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease.
  • In addition, there are currently 16 million caregivers providing unpaid care.
  • By 2050, the number of people living with the disease may grow to nearly 14 million.
  • Between 2000 and 2015, deaths from Alzheimer's have increased by 123 percent.
Please make your Giving Week donation now and help us meet our $25,000 goal. Your gift will support our mission to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. Giving Week ends Friday, April 27, so this is the perfect time to make your gift.

The numbers shared above are important because it's critical to know the facts about Alzheimer's — and the risk. But when someone you care about is living with Alzheimer's — or when the disease has affected you — it's not just about numbers. It's personal.

Please show your support for ALL the work we do by making your Giving Week gift now.

Thank you,
Donna McCullough

P.S. We're all in this together. And I hope you'll generously support our work to provide care and support and to accelerate research toward treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure. Thank you.

Your donation will strengthen our efforts to advance Alzheimer's care, support and research. From face-to-face support to online education programs and promising global research initiatives, your gift makes a difference in the lives of all those affected by Alzheimer's and other dementias in your community and across the world. Thank you for your continued support.
