Start a Facebook fundraiser and CVS Health will give $10
Support the Association by starting a #GivingTuesday Facebook fundraiser today, and CVS Health will kick off your efforts with a $10 donation. In addition, donations made to your fundraiser on #GivingTuesday (Dec. 1) are eligible for a match from Facebook. The funds you raise help to provide Alzheimer’s care and support and accelerate critical research.

Memoirs of an Evergreen event happening virtually on November 21
Holiday gatherings are the perfect way to get in the spirit of the season. The Sunnybrook - Mt. Pleasant "Memoirs of an Evergreen" virtual event is no exception! Join in the holiday cheer on Nov. 21 for their 2nd annual celebration featuring wreath and tree displays from local businesses and talents in the area. The festive pieces will be auctioned off virtually on their Facebook Page and all proceeds will benefit the Alzheimer's Association.

Brain injury may increase Alzheimer’s risk
New research presented at the Alzheimer's Association International Conference Neuroscience Next meeting suggests that people who have a violent blow or jolt to the head — known as traumatic brain injury (TBI) — may be at an increased risk of Alzheimer's-related brain changes. Researchers said TBI-related amyloid buildup may play a role in the development of memory, thinking and behavior changes typical of dementia.

Highlighting Iowa caregivers during National Family Caregivers Month
November is National Family Caregivers Month, and this week we are highlighting Sheila and her family in Central Iowa who care for their mother/mother-in-law, Pat. Each family member takes turns visiting Pat, taking her to appointments, to the grocery story, preparing her meals and more. Sheila joined a caregiver support group to learn more about dementia, the different stages and behaviors, and she shares that information with the rest of her family.

  1. Stopping rivastigmine unexpectedly or diminishing the portion by a huge sum may cause mental or conduct changes. Becuase you think you or another person may have taken an excess of rivastigmine, get crisis help without a moment's delay. Taking an excess of rivastigmine may prompt seizures or stun.
